Wading in the Yuletide

While my goal is nothing more than to jot things down that might amuse, inform, and generally entertain, I try my best to not to be offensive. With that in mind, the subject that I am about to broach concerns the upcoming Christmas holiday and I would like to give my readers who may not celebrate it a moment to leave the site if they choose to do so. If you do choose to leave, let me take this opportunity to thank you for reading and offer you my sincerest hope for a peaceful and peace-filled December 25th. Please check back in a couple days for new posts from the Downjotter.

For those of you who have chosen to stay, you may be wondering why I chose to take this route. In all honesty, it was a last minute decision. My original plan was to start out with my Christmas greeting and then carry on a in merry fashion. Given the state of the world, however, I felt compelled to take a different path.

Christmas is the time set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Christ, and I cannot see any sense in offending anyone who has beliefs different from mine at a time when I should be striving to spread peace and goodwill to all mankind. My belief in the virgin birth is unshaken, and, when the day passes, I will defend my right to worship accordingly. Today, however, is the day I choose to focus on the birth of the Prince of Peace. We have 364 days to debate the validity of our beliefs with a world that either doesn’t believe, or believes differently.

So, to all of you still reading, let me wish you a heart-felt Merry Christmas and thank you all so much for choosing to spend your time reading my blog. Check back soon for the latest updates.

Just thought I would jot this down.
